A CHILD IS BORN

Lord, You are the light that came into the world without its knowledge,

But Your glory did You not hide from those You freed from bondage,

Your birth brought hope & remains a source of the believers’ courage,

Your star notified wise men in the east of the beginning of a new page.

The heavens rejoiced at Your birth while darkness had its fill of rage,

You played the best role ever upon the world’s great stage,

You were already letting some Pharisees in on God’s secrets at just 12 years of age,

John’s disciples saw Your wonders and gave their lives as a pledge,

You are God yet you choose to come into the world through a mere man’s linage,

And Your precious life You gave in exchange for those the devil held hostage,

You called out to the worst of sinners and asked for their hands in marriage,

You spilled Your blood on the cross and gave everyone the right to its usage,

And then died and gave Your life for us all as a gift in a package,

Through Your poverty we were made rich that we may no longer have to manage,

You battled the forces of darkness with nothing but heavenly adage,

Satan’s deadly weapons couldn’t stand Your word, which is sharper than a sword’s edge,

Finally You said it is finished, and that was when we broke out of sin’s cage.

For the pleasant future You secured for us by the victory You won

I present You this piece, just to worship and give You glory.
